The whale shark is a slow-moving, filter-feeding fish that is most known for its massive size! The largest whale shark on record measured at an astounding 18.8 meters or just over 60 feet long!
Since they are classified as fish (unlike whales), they hold the record as the largest fish in the sea! and despite their size (and sharky reputation) whale sharks are gentle filter feeders and won’t eat any humans they encounter. They feed only on plankton and very small fish.
This awesome picture was taken and shared by @alexkyddphoto on Instagram. I love the strips of daylight reaching down through the water. Has anyone ever seen one in person? 🐳 🦈
