Right now we’re in North Central FL, and we are having CRAZY thunderstorms right now and tornado watches on TV. While I was in the shower, this poor, storm frightened dog who hates water walked in the shower to feel safe with me. Now she’s in the closet with 10 blankets on her. Stay safe

  1. Aww poor baby! One of my dogs has considered doing this a few times in similar circumstances, but usually will just poke his head in and then will lay right up against the shower until I get out. I think the walls of our tub make him feel safe? Sometimes I’ll find paw prints in there in the morning after a storm… Or just seemingly at random.

He’s a very anxious dog and gets scared of a lot of stuff. Like he hates the tones Facebook messenger makes for some reason… We of course mute our phones, but sometimes it’s hard to figure out what’s triggering him.

  2. This intrigued me. Look up sound proofing dog crates. Ford MC even has made a prototype. Zencrate is FL based. Thick (moving style) blankets is actually one of the best things. (((((((((((((( woof )))))))))))))))))

  3. Sorry to hear about your dog. Have you tried a thunder shirt – lots of people say it really reduces their dogs symptoms during a storm. We use one for when my dog has anxiety and it does work in reduction but its notna 100% cure.

  4. Poor girl. My Akira dog would get super stressed out whenever she knew a storm was coming, and fourth of July was unbearable for her. Give her lovings for me, tell her it will be okay.

  5. Apparently dogs look to you to tell whether they should be worried or not, so during storms and fireworks and the like, rather than speaking softly to and coddling them as is anyone’s natural instinct, which they’ll interpret as a sign they should be worried, you should instead act strong and completely unfazed to calm them down.
