Sea turtles are the ocean’s lawnmowers! They eat loads of seagrass and other aquatic vegetation. This practice prevents the grass from getting too tall and potentially hurting other fish and marine life.
They can get through so much as they don’t need to waste their time coming back up to the surface for oxygen. Sea turtles can actually hold their breath for five hours underwater! To accomplish this mighty feat they slow their heart rate to only nine minutes in between heart beats in order to conserve oxygen.
