Snow leopard – The most elusive of big cats

This is a snow leopard! They are the most elusive and mysterious of all the big cats! They live throughout the Himalayas and the southern Siberian mountains in Russia.  Snow Leopards are often know as the “ghosts of the mountains” because they are so rarely seen and live most of their life in these remote locations!

Snow leopards are highly adapted to their home in the cold high mountains. Their thick fur patterned with dark rosettes and spots (a pattern that is unique to each individual snow leopard) is the perfect camouflage for their rocky habitat, allowing them to stalk their prey.
