Unlike other large felids, snow leopards do not roar. They emit a high-pitched yowl. Another way snow leopards communicate is with facial expressions.

  1. I cannot – just CANNOT – cope with how cute these things are. That tummy! Those snow-shoe giant little feets! The fluffy! It’s killing me with its adorbs and I’m not even mad about it. ♥

  2. The only big cats I can think of that roar are lions, and maybe panthers (???). Other than that I don’t know any. Then again, the only big cats I know besides lions and panthers are tigers and cheetahs, so that’s pretty 50/50, excluding leopards.

  3. Ah yes my time has come to shine! Snow leopards are also well known (as far as adults go!) to have never recordedly ever killed a human or ever even attack without provocation, in short they are very sweet and curious creatures that are sadly endangered that have probably the most big cat derps caught on camera. Thank you for showing up to my ted talk.

  4. Cheetahs don’t roar either. But I thought they were not considered large cats because of that. So does that mean Snow Leopards are also not considered big cats? Because that’s confusing if they are.

  5. Fun fact about a lot of cats in general: They often don’t meow to other cats. Cats have so many body expressions from the way their tail stands to the way their ears point. They only usually meow to humans who don’t always understand these body cues.

  6. I just did a report on these guys! They cannot roar nor purr.

Also, despite them being able to take down prey 3 times their size even on sheer cliffs, there has never been an attack on a human.

  7. They also feel like a sheep had a baby with a cloud, and cover their noses with their tail fluff when they sleep to conserve body warmth from their breath.

I goddamn love snow leopards and am literally commenting to shill for [The Snow Leopard Trust](https://shop.snowleopard.org) because I expect this post to get a lot of eyes.

COVID is currently absolutely wrecking animal charities everywhere and everyone, including me, is unemployed…but if you donate, I’ll put you on My List, and do everything I can to match it once I have a job again.

Also please talk to me about snow leopards.
