They also help prevent the spread of Lyme disease, since ticks that feed on these lizards who carry Lyme disease will no longer have the disease after they feed on the lizard!

Same with alligator lizards and a couple other species I believe

TLDR: be nice to these little guys, they are doing good work

Oh THAT’S what they’re called! I used to catch them all the time as a kid, they were surprisingly friendly once they realized you weren’t gonna hurt them. Suiting name, they DID absolutely love fences.
